Green pea puree

Veg puree

Naturally, sweet peas make for a convenient first food for your little one – no need for chopping, and they cook to a vibrant green color in just a few minutes. If you can access fresh peas from your local farmer’s market, simply remove the shells and add 2 minutes to the cooking time.

1 cup (5 oz/155 g) of fresh or thawed frozen peas.

2 small mint leaves finely chopped.

  1.     Steam the peas over medium to high heat until tender, which usually takes around 4 minutes.
  2.     Rinse the peas under cold water to cool them down quickly.
  3.     Transfer the cooled peas and, if desired, the chopped mint leaves to a blender or food processor.
  4.     Depending on your baby’s age and ability to chew, you can create a smooth puree or leave it slightly chunky.
  5.     Store the puree in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze it for up to three months.
  6.     For convenient single servings, spoon the puree into ice-cube trays and freeze.
